Kayla Zuckerman AMFT #145351

I am an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist and Associate Professional Clinical Counselor. I approach therapy with sensitivity, compassion, and a dash of humor. I collaborate with clients to best support their specific goals and needs. Through openness and curiosity, I foster a safe and accepting space for clients to feel secure in the therapeutic relationship and process.

I look to hear individual client complexities and encourage clients to explore their specific “why” so, as a team, we can cultivate their own “how” to create practices and skills that are more helpful to daily life and make their inner world a more balanced place. I believe because each person has their own unique experiences and identities, that the journey to healing and growth must equally unique. My approach to therapy is eclectic and is rooted in techniques and insights from modalities such as acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), strengths-based therapy, and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT).

Specialities

Holistic Mental Health Care

Mental health is shaped by so many factors—brain health, neurobiology, lifestyle, and the mind-body connection all play a role. I take a holistic approach to therapy and well-being by considering the unique strengths, life aspects, and challenges that shape your mental and physical balance. I work to explore strategies that feel natural for you and embrace your complexities to help you live more simply and fully.

Sense of Self and Identity

Before the world told you who to be, who were you? In a fast-paced world that often tells us what to do, it’s easy to feel lost in the noise. Whether you’re struggling with identity, big life changes, or just trying to figure out what feels like you, I aim to make therapy a space to reconnect with yourself. We’ll help you find clarity and confidence in who you really are and what you want by reconnecting and redefining yourself on your own terms.

Ketamine and Psychedelic Integration

Ketamine and other psychedelic-assisted therapies have the potential to create profound perception shifts through neuroplasticity, but not without intentional integration therapy. I provide a safe space to help you process and explore insights, make sense of emotions and experiences, and integrate these into your daily life in a meaningful way for lasting change.

Chronic Health Issues

Living with chronic health struggles—diagnosed or not—can be exhausting, frustrating, and isolating. It touches so many aspects of daily life, from physical energy to emotional well-being. Understanding that mental and physical health are deeply intertwined, I take an integrative approach, working collaboratively with your medical team when needed and helping you identify realistic, doable changes. Most importantly, I ensure you feel heard while we work on ways to lighten the load and help you get a few more spoons.

Stress Management and Burnout

Chronic stress and burnout can drain your motivation, impact your mental and physical health, and make the things you once enjoyed and felt passionate about feel overwhelming and draining. I help clients combat the far-reaching impacts, and develop strategies to restore their spark and motivation, and rediscover balance to move towards being able to thrive rather than just survive.

Experience and Training

I have been involved in the mental health field since 2018.

Before pursuing further education to become a therapist, I managed a Ketamine Clinic in Colorado. This allowed me the opportunity to be a part of helping individuals with complex medical and mental health struggles. Wanting to be able to do more to help in a more holistic and individualized manner, I returned to California for graduate school. I graduated from California State University Fullerton with a Master of Science degree in Counseling and Marriage and Family Therapy.

As both a practicum trainee and an associate therapist, I worked at Living Success Center, a non-profit clinic. For nearly two years I was privileged to work with clients of ranging backgrounds, ages, and goals. It was a privilege to see them transform to have more fulfilling lives and increased tools and capabilities to tackle the ebbs and flow of mental wellness and daily life.

I am a lifelong learner and enjoy learning about and reading new research and treatments in brain health, neuroscience, psychedelic assisted psychotherapy and integration, and individualized holistic wellness. I also have continued education trainings in Ketamine Assisted Therapy Care Team Approaches, Psychiatric Medication, Values Based Interventions, and BDSM in Trauma Recovery
